Written by Jordan Stokes.
Old school motorbike icons like Steve McQueen and James Dean may have topped the chart for celebrity badasses, but there are plenty more where they came from. Today, hundreds of the rich and famous enjoy life on two wheels. We’ve rounded up the 10 most popular celebrities who own and ride the motorcycles of our dreams.
It’s true, turns out there’s more to Hollywood than fancy red carpets and green juice. While some may ride bikes on film sets for their roles, there are many stars who just simply love the freedom of riding on two wheels. In fact, some have even been riding bikes since their youth.
There’s no doubt celebrities enjoy the anonymity of riding a bike in blacked out helmets and unrecognizable safety gear, but they do show off their rides to the paparazzi every so often (and lucky for us, because what’s better than seeing a celebrity doing something you love?). You might not be able to ride with them, but you can dream, right?
Listen up bikers, it’s about to get real. Check out 10 of your favorite celebs who love to ride just like you.
And dont forget, safety first…
- Ewan McGregor
It’s no secret that motorcycle junkie and Scottish actor Ewan McGregor loves life on a bike. In fact, he loves it so much that he documented his motorcycle travels in his best-selling book and famous TV series Long Way Round and Long Way Down where he and his best friend, Charley Boorman, set out on an international motorbike trip. The two rode BMW R1150GS Adventure motorbikes for a total of 22,345 miles (35,960 km).
Mcgregor has been riding bikes since his youth and has also been a brand ambassador for Moto Guzzi.
- Keanu Reeves
Not only is Keanu Reeves a Canadian actor, director, producer, and musician, but he’s also reached near expert motorcycle status. In fact, The Matrix star has been working to impress bikers since he founded Arch Motorcycle with well-known bike designer Gard Hollinger. Arch creates unique, custom production, American made motorcycles for bikers worldwide. Late last year Reeves unveiled three new motorcycles that he has spent years designing and building for his shop, and you can check them out on their site!
Although Reeves didn’t begin riding until he was 22 years old, he quickly became a motorcycle enthusiast. Since then, he has owned all sorts of motorcycles, from Suzuki sportbikes to Harley-Davidson choppers and cruisers. One of his favorites? A Norton Commando.
- Norman Reedus
Walking Dead star and motorcycle enthusiast Norman Reedus shows just how much he really loves bikes in his AMC show Ride with Norman Reedus. In the show, Reedus and his “guest of the week” travel on a motorcycle to different destinations and explore the city’s biker culture. The show has been renewed for a third season set to air this year.
His favorite bike? The Tiger 800 XCA. You can see Reedus riding two different models of the bike in his show.
- Charlie Hunnam
Sons of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam prefers the same bike he rode on set: a Harley Dyna Super Glide. In an interview with Men’s Journal, he claims “you know I wish I wasn’t the guy who rode the same bike he rode on his show, but the problem is there’s no better bike out there.” He’s not lying either, it’s an awesome bike and a smooth ride.
- Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise owns several motorcycles including a vintage collection and a Vyrus 987 C3 4V worth over $100,000. Wouldn’t you love to be rich? The actor also frequently does his own film stunts and can be seen riding motorcycles in Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and some of the Mission Impossible films.
Rumor has it that Cruise will be sporting a Kawasaki H2 in the recently announced Top Gun reboot.
- David Beckham
David Beckham is not only an iconic soccer legend and model, but he’s also quite the motorcycle enthusiast. The rugged rider is a huge fan of vintage bikes and stars in a BBC1 (British Broadcasting Corporation) documentary called “David Beckham: Into the Unknown”. In the documentary, Beckham and his three pals enjoy an eye-opening adventure in Brazil, riding hundreds of miles deep into the Amazon rainforest on a badass custom Triumph Bonneville. Does it get any cooler than that?
Not only has Beckham showed off his custom Triumph Amazon Scrambler, but he’s also been seen cruising around on a Hellcat and many other badass bikes in his collection on both sides of the Atlantic.
- Ryan Reynolds
Reynolds got into motorcycling as a young 15-year-old where he rode an old Honda CB750. Now, he can’t get enough of the freedom he finds while escaping to the open road.
The Deadpool star even added a custom Triumph Thruxton cafe racer to his collection, courtesy of Los Angeles-based Kott Motorcycles, that has every motorcyclist gushing. I mean, we can’t all spend a firm six figures on a bike, can we? Either way, the bike is beautiful and we’d love to catch a ride.
That’s right. This American pop rock singer is also a punk biker chick. After all, she is married to former motocrosser Carey Hart, so the thrill of life on two wheels was never been far out of reach. Last year, Hart even built her a custom motorcycle as a push present after the birth of their son, Jameson. Now that’s what we call true biker love!
The rocker has been seen out riding a few bikes, but mostly on her Hinckley Triumph T100 Bonneville.
- John Travolta
The Pulp Fiction actor might be well known as a pilot who has his own landing pad at his house, but he also owns a lot of bikes, including a Harley-Davidson. Travolta really showed off his love for motorcycles and riding skills in the film Wild Hogs and has been riding bikes since a young age, making him a pretty well-versed fan of cruisers.
- Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt has been seen all over the world on a number of impressive bikes.
He has recently been spotted on a ride through Hollywood on a sporty black BMW motorbike. He was also a previous owner of a rare 2009 Triumph, and has owned a Ducati Desmosedici RR, a Monster 696 and a selection of Harley-Davidson choppers. Needless to say, Pitt isn’t new to this biker game.
These multi-millionaires may love the thrill, anonymity, and freedom of riding a motorcycle, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t afraid to show off their rebel riding skills and jaw-dropping bikes! Not only do some of these celebrities love riding in their freetime, most also ride for their jobs, and it doesn’t get any better than that.
We also can’t forget to mention some of our old favorite motorcycle enthusiasts like Marlon Brando, Bob Dylan, and Clark Gable.
